Key aspects for a successful Taxonomy implementation in the rail sector
UNIFE fully shares the ambition of the EU Taxonomy Regulation to define a common classification scheme including criteria for identifying sustainable economic activities, with the aim of guiding investors and financial institutions through a truly green transition. The whole rail industry activities was expected to be fully covered by the criteria of the Climate Delegated Act which entered into force in January 2022. However, some suppliers (mostly components’ manufacturers) activities proved to be disadvantaged compared to system integrators’ activities (complete product).
This paper offers a thorough analysis of the latest taxonomy delegated acts and outlines a number of improvement areas to ensure a successful Taxonomy implementation in the rail sector.
