International Wheelset Congress
The 20th International Wheelset Congress (IWC) will be held in Chicago, the United States, May 8-12, 2023, and will be jointly hosted by MxV Rail (formerly TTCI) and Amsted Rail. The theme of the 20th IWC is “Interdependent Ecosystem of Wheelsets.”
As one of the premier international rail conferences, the IWC attracts and gathers experts from the international rail community including rail operators, rolling stock builders, component and technology suppliers, service providers, academia, research institutes, government agencies, regulatory and standards organizations. It is a forum for dissemination of technologies and advancements in the rail wheelset components as part of vehicle/track system and their performance to promote increased productivity, efficiency and safety, for various modes of rail operations.
IWC is the oldest railway technical conference in the world and was founded by Lucchini in 1963. The first congress took place in Bergamo, Italy, in that year. Since then, with only three exceptions, it has been held every third year. The 19th IWC was held in Venice, Italy in 2019. It was hosted by Lucchini RS. The main topic of the last conference was "Wheelset of the future: an Integrated System."
