In2Rail final event

19 April 2018

On behalf of the In2Rail Shift2Rail Lighthouse Project coordinator Network Rail, we would like to cordially invite you to attend the In2Rail final event to be held on 19 April 2018  at the Waggon- 31 venue in Vienna (Austria).

Launched in May 2015, In2Rail sets the foundations for a resilient, consistent, cost-efficient, high capacity European network by exploring innovative technologies that will result in concepts embedded in a systems framework where infrastructure, information management, maintenance techniques, energy, and engineering are integrated, optimised, shared and exploited.(

The In2Rail event will start at 08:00 (AM) and finish at 15:00. This will be followed from 15:00 to 16:30 by a high-level session on the closure of the four Shift2Rail Lighthouse Projects (Roll2Rail, In2Rail, IT2Rail and Smart Rail) at the same venue. The high-level session will provide you with an overview from the European Commission, Shift2Rail and the sector on the results and impacts of the Shift2Rail lighthouse projects:

• IT2Rail (coordinated by UNIFE): The project aims at providing a new seamless travel experience, giving access to a complete multimodal travel offer which connects the first and last mile to long distance journeys. (

• Roll2Rail (coordinated by UNIFE): The project aims to develop key technologies and to remove already identified blocking points for radical innovation in the field of railway vehicles, as part of a longer term strategy to revolutionise the rolling stock for the future. (

• SMART-RAIL (coordinated by TNO): The project focuses on innovative solutions and their implementation in the rail freight sector. The project aims to improve the five main aspects: reliability, visibility, flexibility, costs and lead time. (

In2Rail final event venue: Waggon-31 - Riesenradplatz 2, 1020, Wien, Austria
